World War II veteran's journey ends 78 years later

Moulton, AL

On April 25, 2024, The American Legion Department of Alabama Division 1 posts and units came together to form a joint honor guard.
Post 15 Decatur, Post 25 and Unit 25 Moulton and 165 Hackleburg formed the team.
The team was honored to be on the Birmingham airport tarmac when U.S. Army Forward Scout Noah C. Reeves' remains were returned to Alabama.
The team escorted PFC Reeves home from Birmingham to his hometown Moulton in a convoy stretching miles behind their honor guard vehicle. Thousands lined the interstate highway welcoming home an American hero. The team conducted pall bearer duties at Lawrence Funeral Home where more than a hundred veterans and community members were waiting to show their respects.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) said that PFC Reeves was killed in action on Dec. 6, 1944, near the town of Vossenack, Germany, in the Hurtgen Forest. DPAA confirmed he was accounted for on Sep. 12, 2022. His relatives were located in Lawrence County Alabama and the planning to return home began.
On April 29, 2024, the team conducted an honor watch at the funeral home where the public showed their respects. On April 30, funeral services with full military honors were conducted with multiple organizations participating. The honor guard team, Legionnaires Phil Terry, Kay Wadsworth, Loosier, Tim Howard, Tim Riggs and Debbie Riggs, want to thank the entire American Legion family and other groups/organizations for their support and patriotism. For God and country. It's what we do.
