The white glove ‘test’

At Naval Station Great Lakes in December 1963, everyone in my company decided our barracks would be perfect for an upcoming inspection. We all worked hard together. Every rack (bed) was perfect. You could bounce a quarter off each of them. The floors shined. The head (toilet) shined. Everything was so perfect that every locker combination was set on zero.
The white glove inspection came. Nothing showed up on the white gloves. We received a score of 3.6 out of a possible 4.0 - .4 off for UNSEEN DIRT!
