On Sept. 1, the John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) SAL hosted their first-ever Be the One Indy race watch party. They had a silent auction with automotive-related merchandise. Bringing the event closer to home, they were collecting diapers and donations for diapers for a widow of a local active-duty airman who committed suicide in August. She has a 10-year-old daughter and is 8 months pregnant. The goal of Post 62 is to collect a year's worth of diapers for her, among other things. During the race the SAL provided food for everyone in attendance including wings, pizza, sliders and more. While the turnout was not huge, they are already planning another watch party next year. We tip our hat to our SAL for taking the time and effort to make this event happen.
