John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) has done a monthly site visit to a nearby senior center for a few months. Everyone enjoys it so much, it was decided to expand out to other local centers. In February they are doing six different center visits. Some have a veteran club, while others do not but might want to start one. In January the publicity/community relations team did their first compassion visits to homebound veterans as well. That will continue as the outreach to new centers ramps up with over 10 visits in February and March. It is great for everyone involved on both sides of the visits to let the veterans know they are not alone and people care about them. Even Manny Beltran, the Arizona American Legion commander, is interested in attending a visit or more.
