American Legion Post 39 of Valley Head, Ala., Post 89 of Fort Payne, Ala., and Post 106 of Trenton, Ga., came together to perform a Memorial Day service at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church for community veterans who served.

The church youth placed 148 crosses in front of the church with those veterans' names on them. Boy Scout Troop 4304 from Ider, Ala., and Scoutmaster Ben Casey preformed the flag retirement ceremony.
