Veteran's Walk of Honor

New Paltz, NY

We are American Legion Riders Chapter 1298 of Ulster County, N.Y., and we are trying to install a Veteran's Walk of Honor at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery.
The basis for the idea comes from the walkway that currently exists at Saratoga National Cemetery and is a moving tribute to fallen heroes. These monuments are placed by individual posts and are of their own design. There are no set parameters to the monuments, only that they be reserved and honorable.
Our goal is to remember the sacrifices that were made by so many of our fallen comrades, by giving their families a place for respite and reflection on all their loved ones have done for their country.
Our idea will involve:
▪ The efforts of the Boy Scouts of America
▪ All the American Legion posts in Ulster County
▪ The VFW chapters
▪ A host of volunteers willing to do whatever it takes to make this project happen
