John J. Morris Post 62 honors Memorial Day

Peoria, AZ

On May 27, 2024, the John J. Morris Post 62, Peoria, Ariz., honored those that gave their all with events at the post. The day started with our Riders pulling up near the flagpole. The honor guard came out in full splendor. The post chaplain led everyone in prayer, the national anthem was sung, and the honor guard put the flag at half-staff with a 21-gun salute.

The Unit 62 Auxiliary president gave a speech, as well as an SAL officer, the ALR Director and the Post 62 commander. Speeches concluded with a closing prayer by our post chaplain before migrating inside to get out of the 100-degree heat.

The post distributed t-shirts honoring the fallen to those in attendance and hosted a huge potluck. At 1 p.m., a favorite local band entertained the full house until 5 p.m. Respect was the theme of the day to honor those who died for our country.
