The members of Smithfield's Balfour-Cole Post 64 gathered for a flag retirement ceremony. Scores of flags collected in the past few months were honorably retired following a brief ceremony.
The post has been instrumental in getting a "Used Flags" box placed in front of the Town Hall. Post 64 holds flag etiquette classes in each of the town's elementary schools every year.
