Legion Riders to present motorcycles to severely wounded veterans

The Villages, FL

American Legion Riders Post 34 (Cave Creek, Ariz.) is partnering with Combat Hero Bike Build to present a motorcycle to Jordan Maynard, USMC, a double amputee from Cottonwood, Ariz., at Post 34 in Cave Creek. Jordan stepped on an IED while on foot patrol on March 23, 2011. Jordan rode dirt bikes from the age of 5 to adulthood and had ridden his mom's Harley-Davidson Dyna prior to getting injured, but has not been able to ride since. The motorcycle was donated by a member of Post 34, Bill Petchauer, and will be modified to accommodate Jordan's physical disabilities. The presentation is scheduled to take place on April 5, 2025, at Post 34.

American Legion Riders of Colorado is also partnering with Combat Hero Bike Build to modify a motorcycle to be presented on July 26, 2025, at May Farms in Byers to U.S. Army veteran Bobby Henline. Bobby's Humvee was hit by a roadside bomb in Zaganiyah, Iraq, during his fourth tour on April 7, 2007. Bobby was the only survivor of the five men in the Humvee and suffered burns over 38% of his body, head burnt to the skull and left hand amputated. Financial support to build the bike is also being provided by Southern Arizona Musicians for Healing. Bobby's bike was donated by Karen White, wife of Mike White, director of American Legion Riders Post 13 and is being built by Billy Hallman Jr. (Outcast Cycles), director of La Junta American Legion Riders Post 9. Bobby rode a Honda Magna in his early 20s, but had to sell it to buy cribs and diapers when he started having children.

These motorcycles will give Bobby and Jordan the sense of freedom and camaraderie that is associated with riding.
