The New Mexico Veterans Memorial

Albuquerque, NM

The lovely New Mexico Veterans Memorial is located on 25-acres adjoining Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dedicated to honoring our veterans, the park contains 40 memorials, monuments and kiosks recognizing groups such as Pearl Harbor survivors, Buffalo soldiers and Navajo Code Talkers, and our country’s various wars and military history. The Visitor's Center hosts a museum, a military history library, an event and conference center and a memorial courtyard for quiet celebrations. The large amphitheater regularly hosts Veterans Day and Memorial Day celebrations, military retirement ceremonies and various non-veteran events. Facing the amphitheater are the parade grounds which have hosted marching bands, balloon launches and even helicopter displays. The landscape is beautified with ample rose bushes and other foliage. Visitors’ tours can be arranged and are conducted by trained docents, and indeed, many busloads of visitors from throughout the United States have enjoyed their visit to this “quiet little gem” in Albuquerque.
