Santa, the Grinch and all the Riders line up after loading the trailer with gifts for today.

John J. Morris Post 62 Riders deliver toys to eight families: Day 1 of deliveries

Peoria, AZ

On Dec. 14, the John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria Ariz.) Legion Riders delivered toys to eight needy families. Eight hours of smiles followed the procession of 20 motorcycles. Members nominated needy families they knew, and the process was on. Santa Claus and the Grinch led the motorcade. Even when on the road, cars were honking and kids waving when Santa went by. The children at the stops were excited to see Santa and get presents. Some families had tears in their eyes seeing their children get gifts that would not have been possible otherwise. A salute to the Riders for their dedication to community and youth. Honestly, though, I am not sure Santa (as is his character) didn't have the most fun of everyone today. Tomorrow is six more families getting their holiday wishes granted.

All ready at the first stop: a church a few families came to for their gifts. A proud group of Riders anxiously await.

Children down the street from a delivery came out to see what Santa was doing. The group always carries extra toys to deliver to additional children. That happened twice today, for even more families helped.

Final stop was in parking lot of Five Below. The manager was so excited for what was going on, she had to come join the party!
