Fred Brock Post 828 - San Antonio, TX

SAN ANTONIO – (Nov. 11, 2024) – Legionnaires, veterans, family members, and elected officials gathered at Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 to honor all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in support of Veterans Day.

Annually, Post 828 hosts a ceremony to honor those who served and are continuing to serve in the greatest military force in the world.

This year, the keynote speaker was U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Gilda Alexander, command chief of the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio.

“Veterans Day is more than just a holiday - it’s a time to reflect on the incredible sacrifices made by those who chose to serve something greater than themselves,” said Alexander. “You are a testament to the fact that the call to serve knows no race, no background, no limitations. And it is because of you, because of your dedication and your sacrifices, that our nation continues to stand strong and free.”

Following the ceremony, members journeyed to San Antonio National Cemetery to attend the annual Veterans Day ceremony hosted by the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association, where all witnessed a naturalization ceremony welcoming seven active-duty servicemembers as U.S. citizens.

Later in the evening, the post hosted its annual Junior Non-Commissioned Officers reception in support of Celebrate America’s Military.

Presented by Mojo Consultants, the event treated guests to complimentary BBQ dinners, gift bags from H-E-B Operation Appreciation and a live performance by DevSoul.

Post 828 thanks the following sponsors for their continued support of the Junior NCO Reception: USAA, First Command, Noble Gentlemen of San Antonio, Montoya S. Rover Foundation, Silver Eagle Beverages, Kiolbassa Smoked Meats and retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Garnel Alford. Additionally, the post thanks all its volunteers and those for their monetary and in-kind donations to assist veterans.

Fred Brock Post 828’s mission is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.
