Houma, La.: On April 27-29, 2018, Lenox Hotard American Legion Post 31 spent six months preparing for our spring conference for the Mighty 3rd District. The conference is held in the spring and fall of each year, and for the past four conferences Post 31 and our Legion Family has come together to create a great venue for 100-125 people. – Legionnaires, Sons and Auxiliary members from across the southern region of Louisiana.
At the conference, awards were given, officers were elected, food was shared, money was raised for the Hardship Fund, and lots of fun was had by all. Lee Shaffer, commander of Post 31, stated, "It is amazing how everyone in the post has come together to raise the funds necessary, worked on the decorations, developed the plan for food, and rooms, obtained guest speakers and ensured all enjoyed the event and felt like home. It was truly a team effort." There were veterans from all wars and contingencies, from WWII to the present, and all shared their experiences with each other. Post 31 is already getting ready for the November 2018 conference.
