Each family received boxes of food with these items in it. Veterans got their food for free, about 70 pounds!

John J. Morris Post 62 partners to provide free food to veterans

Peoria, AZ

On June 29 John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) partnered with Borderlands Produce on Wheels With-Out Waste to offer fruit and vegetables to the community. All veterans were given their food for free. Hundreds of cars lined up to get food; over 25,000 pounds of food were distributed. This event brought to a close our partnership after one full year and after distributing over a quarter-million pounds of food. The program was a huge success, even to the point that our facility could not handle the crowds and was causing traffic issues two miles away. It was an honor to partner and make this possible for the last 12 months, feeding thousands of families in the community, with our veterans.

Post commander with Borderlands representative celebrate providing free food to veterans.

Volunteers showed up from 3 am to 4 am to start sorting food and making it available to the community starting at 6 am.

Due to the event's success, cars were lined up for miles causing traffic issues and causing this to be our last event; too much traffic for our site to handle.
