On June 1, 2024, the John J. Morris Post 62 in Peoria, Ariz., honored Don Goodell with the first Veteran of the Month Award. At 9 a.m. the American Legion Riders (ALR) showed up in force for support, followed by the honor guard presenting the colors, then speeches from the chaplain and post commander. A huge crowd, which included Don's family and friends, were in attendance. A flag will fly over Post 62 for the month of June and then be presented back to the family on July 1. It's always an honor to attend these monthly events to honor those who have gone to Post Everlasting. After the ceremony, Noreen Goodell went to each and every Rider and thanked them for attending. What a heartfelt moment to see!

Flag flying high over Post 62 to honor Don Goodell for the month of June. The sun was shining brightly on the flag and event. Perhaps part of that was Don smiling down on the event from Post Everlasting.
