Post 336 museum honors its members

Post 336 - Glen Head, NY

Back in 2021, Post 336 in Glen Head, N.Y., put together a collection of artifacts from the various wars in its museum. Included in this display are uniforms worn by their members during the Korean and Vietnam wars, as well as Iran. Over recent years, Post 336 has made substantial donations, through fundraising events, to the Wounded Warrior Project, Vets for Pets and Tunnels to Towers, as well as years of parties dedicated to raising funds to provide food baskets for those in need and seniors in their community. In September 2023, a Quilt of Valor was presented to one of our members, Scott Whitting of the Army Special Forces from the Vietnam War. Volunteers from across the United States have sewn over 357,000 quilts that have been dedicated to deserving veterans. Our post is also proud to host the Young Marines, who meet monthly at our post in preparation to eventually join the Marines after their high school education is completed. We are extremely proud to have Luke Whitting, an Afghanistan Army veteran, serving as the commander of Post 336. Having a young commander has helped our aging post attract younger veterans who have also proudly served this country we love. The Glen Head Civic Association honored our members over the past few years by raising funds to place our Hometown Heroes banners on the lampposts along the main road in our small community.
