On Monday, July 22, the John J. Morris Post 62 honor guard took their shift with flag retirement. Several groups in the community provide flags to the cemetery and also take turns on flag retirement. We are scheduled for two to three times a year, for a two-week shift each time. They arrive and sort everything prior to loading the five burners and cycling through; when a burner finishes it is reloaded and started again. While summers in Arizona get hot, you need to get there early and do what you can before the heat gets too high. If not done, you come back the next day, etc., until done. Then the following week you go again to take care of new deliveries.
