Bristol Blues Military Appreciation Day at Bristol Blues Baseball game.

Bristol, CT

The evening of July 19, the Bristol Blues Organization honored 2 World War II Veterans from American Legion, Post 2 at Muzzy Field, Bristol. The same Baseball Field that Babe Ruth played a number of games on. The presentation happened at the start of the Bristol Blues Military Appreciation Game Night.
The team members honored Mr. Joe Caminiti, an Iwo Jima Survivor who witnessed the iconic American Flag raising on Iwo Jima during World War II. Mr. The other being Dick Fitz, an Navy, Arm Guard, who was a gunner on merchant ships who saw action and had a torpedo hit his ship, luckily it was a dud.

Before the start of the game, Mr. Dick Fitz was escorted onto the field by American Legion Post 2 Historian Neal Supranovich. There Mr. Fitz was presented a 48 star, American Flag for his service by players of the Bristol Blues. Next Mr. Joe Caminiti was escorted onto the same field by John Ladovico. John, an American Legion, Post 2 member and a member of the Bristol Veterans Council. Joe was also presented a 48 star Flag by players of the Baseball Team.

A few years ago Post 2 presented a number of dog blankets to the organization.
