American Legion Post 53 celebrated 95 years of its charter in Buckeye, Ariz., on June 15, 2024. The Post 53 Family created displays to honor those from the past who provided so much recreation and patriotism for the town of Buckeye's past, and honored those who brought back to life a dying Post in the early 2000s, as well as those who helped rebuild a new Post 53 home since 2010. Displays included photos, memorabilia and items dating back from the 1930s up through current days. Buckeye has grown from a small agricultural town to one of the fastest-growing cities in the country over the past 20 years. This event helped raise awareness to both the Buckeye natives and thousands of new residents that the American Legion Family is active in the growing Buckeye to support veterans, military families, youth and community.
There were so many to thank over the years, so it was great to schedule an event to honor those who contributed their time and energy to support various programs. Shout out to the Post 53 and Unit 53 Auxiliary members who worked over the past year to find photos, create the displays and carry out a successful event which was attended by many, including the mayor of Buckeye and his wife! It was nice to hear the conversations of Buckeye natives reminiscing about their days with the Legion Family as youth! THANK YOU to those who contributed to the display and to those who were able to attend!
