The Sacrifice They Made
(In Honor of the Veterans of the Korean War 1950-1953)
Young men sent off to war
Some drafted, others volunteered,
Only 18 or so
Much to live for
These men were trained for combat,
Sent to a foreign land,
Where South Korea was
Fighting against Communist North Korea,
Man-to-man combat,
Caught in a blaze of gunfire on the ground,
And anti-aircraft artillery,
From above,
Young boys lost their lives,
A cold country,
Some boys froze to death,
The brave soldiers
Died on that battlefield
A fellow soldier blew taps,
Someone had made the sacrifice.
