On Thursday, April 10, at 12;30 in the afternoon, John J. Morris Post 62, (Peoria, Ariz.) welcomed National Auxiliary President Trish Ward. Her vehicle was escorted in by our Legion Riders. A crowd waited outside and welcomed her to the post. She came in and talked to everyone in the social quarters and the dining hall. Following the flag salute, pledge, POW salute and opening prayer, Unit 62 kicked off the luncheon our Auxiliary provided everyone in attendance at no charge. Ward then started the program by presenting three Auxiliary Juniors with their earned patches, followed by her keynote address. Following that, Ward and Unit President Amery presented a plaque to local Auxiliary member Christine Riggs for a life-saving procedure for a collapsed veteran. Gifts were presented to Ward, followed by everyone working on the poppy display in our front window. Unit 62 presented a check for $500 for her designated charity. All families of the post were represented and had a great time.
