SAN ANTONIO – (Dec. 20, 2022) – The primary mission of Fred Brock Post 828 is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.
To support the elderly in local nursing homes for the Christmas holidays, the post partnered with Golden Years Senior Care and Referral Services, LLC, and others to host the 2nd Annual Elderly Pajamas & Socks Drop Off at the post on Nov. 26.
“Post 828 is honored to have partnered with various organizations for the event as the elderly long for care, love and affection,” said Post Commander Burrell Parmer. “Assisting with their needs and concerns will ensure their good health.”
More than 100 sets of pajamas/gowns and socks were collected and distributed to three nursing facilities, two of which are located near the post.
“Providing pajamas and socks will raise their spirits and make the most of the time they have left more comfortable,” said Parmer. “It is an undeniable fact that the elderly requires more care and attention. They are entitled to comfort, which I believe these donations will provide.”
