CWB Advisory Board Luncheon held at Fred Brock Post 828

San Antonio, TX

SAN ANTONIO – (April 4, 2025) – The Claude W. Black Center Advisory Board supports programming at the Claude W. Black Community Center and serves as a resource for coordinating community services and fostering partnerships that promote economic self-sufficiency, family strengthening, and enhance the quality of life for children, families and seniors living on the East Side.

To show their appreciation for sponsors and volunteer organizations, the advisory board hosted their annual appreciation luncheon at Fred Brock American Legion Post 828.

Attendees enjoyed a BBQ luncheon catered by H-E-B as well as a video highlighting two events the advisory board, in partnership with Dreambuilders of Texas Charitable Foundation (DTCF), hosts annually: Back-to-School Jamboree and Holiday Gift Giveaway.

“The post is honored to have had the appreciation luncheon at our event center,” said Post Commander Burrell Parmer, past president of the advisory board. “The advisory board and their supporters are doing great things in the community that always bring relief to families prior to the start of school and smiles to children before Christmas.”

Advisory board members include Legionnaire Tavarus Glover (president), Dori Brown (vice president), Dr. Leo Green (secretary), Legionnaire Burrell Parmer (treasurer), Ron Black (parliamentarian), Legionnaire Burnell White Jr. (DTCF president), Clara Walker, Brett Carter and Gracie Gonzalez. Sons of the American Legion Squadron 828 Treasurer Paul Harris serves as advisory board liaison.

The mission of Fred Brock Post 828 is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.
