Bristol, CT

In 2016, the Post 2 historian joined forces with the assistant director of the Bristol Public Library. They formed a committee to honor Vietnam veterans. The library joined the DoD 50th Vietnam War Commemoration Program. Over the years the library held a Vietnam Lapel Pin Presentation and Vietnam Spouses Recognition Day. The Legion took charge of the items left at the Wall That Heals when it visited Bristol in 2016. The items were donated to the library. Post 2 organized donations to purchase a showcase to display the items. A number of speakers were invited to speak over the years about their time in Vietnam. The library held the event, and Post 2 supplied the volunteers when needed.
When the State of Connecticut held a Vietnam Thank You presentation for all those who served in Vietnam, either born in Bristol or later moved to Bristol, Post 2 helped with supplying as many names of Vietnam veterans as they knew.
Post 2 took part in other Vietnam events sponsored by other members of the DoD Commemoration Program.
The Bristol Public Library, the official member of the DoD program, received an award from DoD stating they were in the top 15% of all those who took part honoring our Vietnam veterans. In return, Post 2 was singled out for their support.

Program organized by Post 2 with the help of the library.
